I am a student at Drake University. There, I major in BFA Theatre Acting and Multimedia Journalism, with a minor in Environmental Science. I’m also a Drake cheerleader and occasionally write for the student-led newspaper, The Times-Delphic. You can read the articles I have written for them so far here.
Hometown?
I’m from Creve Coeur, Missouri (St. Louis County), which is 30 minutes from Downtown St. Louis. (Fun fact: I have lived there her entire life, along with her grandparents, aunt and uncle, and cousins- all of which live on the same street!) As for my education, I’m a Parkway alumni/Parkway North High graduate.
My favorite place in St. Louis is the Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park, where I go on walks and bike rides with my family, and go canoeing or do photoshoots with friends.

What’s in a Name?
My full name is Cassandra Lyn Therese Schoene. There is meaning to every part of my name, whether self-given or given by family. My middle name “Lyn” is named after her Godmother and older cousin, Kaitlyn. My 2nd middle name is my confirmation saint, St. Therese of Lisieux “The Little Flower”. I am confirmed in the Roman Catholic church. My last name is an Americanized spelling of the German word for Beautiful, which my German ancestors changed when they came over to America during World War ll. And my first name is Cassandra simply because her parents thought it was pretty. However, it is a Greek name meaning “helper of mankind”, so I take that as a sign of my purpose.
Passions?
I am passionate about a lot of things including the environment, animal rights, civil rights, prison reform, education reform, the arts, etc. I am also vegan due to my love of my animals. In general, I’m overall curious about everything which is seen in my favorite quote: “Curiosity killed the cat…but satisfaction brought it back.”
Future?
My current profession is a student at Drake University, writer for the Times-Delphic, and manager at the vegan Indian fusion restaurant Bombay Food Junkies.
I have big dreams for my future professions and often state that I want to “be Barbie” because I want to do everything. This includes being a character at Disney, a flight attendant to travel the world, a film actress, an investigative journalist for environmental issues, a business owner, a key member of society for reform, and more. (And of course, I will always have that childhood dream of being a princess.) Being so career-focused, I feel strongly for friendships and family relationships. I don’t want a small-town life, but want to make my mark on the world.
